Tall Vaydre Delivery

My goodness it has been a long time since I've updated this page. It is not for lack of activity, but a surfeit, and a resulting lack of time.  The opening of the Williamsburg location of the Brooklyn Flea has meant a few more orders and one more day at a market instead of in the shop.  It did not result in a comensurate increase in my business or organizational skills, which became a problem these last few weeks.  Only time can really tell you if you've learned something, but I certainly hope I have.  Because I like sleeping.

The upside of a crash-and-burn like this is the fact you do a lot of deliveries in a short amount of time, and though outsourcing that time-intensive process is part of the new plan, I did do one myself the other day and was reminded it is one of my favorite parts of the business.  Seeing a piece go in to a new home is a gas and because I make fairly utilitarian pieces, I get to see them take ther place as a part of a person or family's day-to-day routine.  I also get to see some neat places, like the one in the pic above. A tiny apartment, but with a huge deck at least equal to the size of the floorplan.

Made the Cheddar Run in Less Than 12 Parsecs

Some days, you wonder "Why did I sink all this money into tools?"
Other days, you know exactly why.
See you at the Flea.

Rolling Factory Cart Coffee Table

This guy here is a product of the ongoing collaboration with Kings County Salvage and their Super Curator, Valerie.  The big question with a piece like this is "How much do we clean it up?"  Matching the beams to the existing cart frame is fairly straightforward, but then you have the decision to make as to how Restoration Hardware to go with the wire brush.  One reason I like working with Val is her propensity to let things stay old.  The patina of age can always be stripped off, to an extent, but trying to get something new to look old is...is there a better word than "tacky"? Probably not.

The real kicker on this piece is that the wheels roll "like buttah". I'm trying to rehab an old Herman Miller office chair base that used to roll, and am learning that once they go, they go.

King's County Salvage has this in their store now, going for $385, I believe.
